Cue the fireworks:
My apologies for the outage, which lasted more than 24 hours (longest in my 9-year history).
In short, here's what happened. My web hosting company that I've been doing business with for many years (which does not host this blog) was sold last month to a new hosting company; the wonderful owner decided to retire due to some health concerns. I had it set up with my old host to point "theboldsoul.com" to the blog, which is hosted by Typepad. In the transition between the two companies, some technical changes needed to be made, but somehow in the process they "misplaced" the link between the domain name and the blog itself. Having worked in I.T. for a whole lot of years, I know that sometimes these things happen during a transition such as this one, although it was frustrating when I found myself trying to explain to the new support guys what I thought they needed to do in this special case, and either they weren't quite getting it or else there was some other info I/they were lacking that only the original hosting guy could provide. Finally, they contacted him and so did I, and bless the man, he jumped right on board, and on a SUNDAY no less -- to get the new guys on the right track.
When I woke up this morning, I checked the blog, not knowing what to expect... but VOILA! Everything looks wonderful and all the links appear to be functioning again.
If you notice anything NOT working -- links, images, or anything -- please leave a comment so I can track it down. But as far as I can tell, all seems well.
I'm grateful to the new support guys -- who seem quite nice and very patient -- and especially grateful to Marty at my old hosting company, who saved the day (and my blog!) I had visions of having to pull the plug, take 9 years' worth of posts and images and comments, and find another hosting company, which could have taken days if not weeks. Happily I do not need to do that now.
