Oh, at last! The sun and warmth has come back to Paris today... if only for this one day.
You know it's a good day in Paris when the Parisiens take to the banks of the Seine...
... which is running a bit on the high side, following Friday's heavy rain and hail. I guess all that extra water finally came down from upstream. It feels odd to say "came DOWN" when the Seine actually flows to the NORTH, but there it is.
Still, it was a gorgeous day. I went to a small writer's group meeting near Sorbonne, while poor Georges (who works near Sorbonne) was actually working on a deadline, but working at home! So he didn't even get out to enjoy this day. I had to enjoy it for both of us.
And really, what's not to enjoy? Although those people who were blissfully putting their feet in the polluted waters were a bit daft if you ask me.
But everwhere I went, there were people in shorts and t-shirts, tourists who had dressed too warmly (it was chilly all last week) walking with their sweatshirts wrapped around their waists, and me (and others) in sleeveless shirts with the sun on our shoulders. I saw a few sunbathers by the river who'd taken their shirts off to get the full sun effect. We're a bit starved for Vitamin D here, I think.
High waters although not at flood stage (yet), but what a lovely day it was.
