... to blow this popsicle stand called "no-summer Paris".
Don't get me wrong, I still love Paris. Just not all of the time.
Like, I don't love the Paris with dog poop everywhere, so you can't walk safely without looking down all the time. I do love dogs and how in Paris the dogs can go practically everywhere; I just hate the owners who don't think they ought to pick up the poop.
I don't love the Paris with the cigarette butts littering the sidewalks and street gutters... but I DO love the Paris where you can now go to a restaurant and enjoy your meal without a side order of other people's smoke.
And this dreary Paris weather this summer is just for the birds. We had two really good days this week, and now we're back to the crap weather.
But there is hope on the way for us! We leave this weekend for the sunny sud: Saint Raphael and our own "Melon Beach"! We are both more than ready to get out of the city and have a change of scenery and climate, and we're staying for 3 weeks (the Little Guy will be with us, too). We will go to all our favorite beaches, spend some time with Georges' sister, play lots of mini-golf, eat ice cream, visit our Fréjus Zoo favorites, and we might even make a trip to Marseilles to see friends and to visit the Chateau d'If of The Count of Monte Cristo fame. No fuss, no frills... just swimsuits, shorts, t-shirts, sun, palm trees and a lot of relaxation. (Oh, right... I have to study for that French test, too. Pfft. But I can do that ON A BEACH. While drinking a PASTIS. Suddenly, studying for a French test sounds a whole lot sexier.)
So, for a while, no photos of Paris... just a lot of photos of things like this:
