Well, I'd have to say that our 1st anniversary was just perfect. The weather was amazing, sunny, cloudless with some lovely breezes. After breakfast, we eventually made our way to the local marché to buy a melon, just as we did on the day we got engaged... although at the moment we bought the melon last year, I was in the dark about a certain question being popped and even Georges wasn't sure he was going to ask me THAT morning.
Here's a peek at the marché as it looked yesterday. See if you can spot my handsome husband...

By the way, I have the same hat; we bought a pair of them last summer on a super-hot beach day where we had no shade, and they may be a bit funny-looking but they sure keep the sun from baking our heads and faces.
Then, we walked toward the beach area here in Saint Raphael, and made our way down to "our" beach -- Melon Beach, as we now affectionately call it thanks to our friend FWaB who first coined the phrase after hearing how Georges dropped the melon on the sand before dropping down on one knee. We managed to find a place to sit EXACTLY on the spot where he proposed (as near as we can recall, anyway)...

We had a yummy lunch at the little beach-front restaurant just next to us on the beach, and a long heart-to-heart talk about many things... one of the things I like about us as a couple is we can talk about anything from the mundane to the silly to the serious. Then back to the beach where I took a swim to cool off. Later we adjourned to a nearby terrace to sit in the shade of a large plane tree and read over some afternoon drinks and a little ice cream. Finally, back home to share a delicious steak dinner with his sister and watch the film Amélie (we both love the music).
A simple day, spent together doing nothing except relaxing, holding hands, kissing and reminiscing. I can't think of a better way to spend an anniversary!
