Our work is done. We've arranged for someone to pick up the mail and feed the crazy cat. We've paid the bills, done the banking, and said "See ya next year" to the neighbors. I sent emails to my clients wishing them a good holiday. We're (mostly) packed. E-tickets are printed, taxi reserved for the trip to the airport and rental car reserved on the other end, passports are ready. I watered the Christmas tree. There's nothing left to do.
Except get on the plane. Woo-hoo! Holidays!
So it's Au Revoir to Paris for a little while. We leave early tomorrow to spend the holidays with my family in the U.S. This is something I wasn't sure we'd be able to do this year, but I had a good run of luck with some writing jobs that gave me the funds to get us there and back again, and it worked out with the kids' holiday plans as well. It's also my mother's 75th birthday on Wednesday and I'm really glad to be there for that, too. It will mean a lot to her.
I'll post as best I can but it may be on the light side for the next two weeks. In the meantime, I wish you all a lovely, loving, healthy, happy, joyful, prosperous and safe Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa and New Year. Or if you're celebrating nothing at all, then I just wish you all good things anyway.
