Just as Linda and I were walking along yesterday, saying to ourselves that we kind of missed all the Halloween hub-bub because in France it's not widely recognized, we spotted these window decorations.
I'm guessing some children probably live in that apartment.
We also passed a florist who was selling these colorful mums. They always make me think of autumn in New Jersey, where the local farm stand sells thousands of mums each year and we inevitably buy a bunch to put around the front door to the house along with a few Halloween decorations to make it festive for the trick-or-treaters. We won't have kids knocking on the door begging for candy here in Paris, but I may pick up some red mums to make our front door look prettier now that most of the foliage is down.
Linda told me that because November 1st is All Saint's Day, or Toussaint, here in France, many people will be buying mums to place on the graves of their loved ones, and that it's the single biggest day for flower sales in France. We don't have this tradition in the U.S. where I think the biggest floral day is either Valentine's day or Mother's day.
Happy Halloween!
