On Sunday, Georges and I, and his older son, took a walk up toward Rue des Abbesses to do a little birthday shopping for his son's girlfriend. And we happened to pass what I think may be the strangest shop I've ever seen.
It was chock full of mismatched oddities: bins of type blocks (you could choose your initials or make up whatever words you want) and beads to make jewelry; all kinds of vintage (both "real" vintage and the pretend-vintage) toys; and then there were these creepy jars of doll bodies in varying sizes and colors.
It was difficult to determine the "theme" for this shop, other than "a bunch of old or quasi-old junk that no one else wanted so we bought it in bulk and now here it is, please buy something".
I don't remember the name of the shop but if you're in the area and curious, it's on Rue Joseph le Maistre just before it connects with Rue Lepic and Rue des Abbesses. Shouldn't be hard to find... just look for the mini "TV" full of plastic dolls heads suspended in the window:
