Yeah, it's still too hot. We got a nice break last evening before bed, which was such a relief and allowed us all to get a relatively decent night's sleep (we were all completely wiped out by the canicule). And this morning we discovered there had been some small rainstorm that had cooled things off considerably. Breakfast was a pleasure, with all the windows thrown wide open and a cool breeze blowing through the entire apartment. Short-lived, I'm afraid. By the lunch hour, the heat was back in full force (although it's not quite as bad as yesterday) and I am now holed up in my darkened living room, fan blowing directly on me and bottle of spray-mist water. I did a bit of house work earlier, then shut up the blinds and most of the windows, and I'll need to go out in about 90 minutes to pick my step-son up at school, but that's the extent of my ambition today. I feel drained and cranky and I haven't done anything. This is why I will never, ever want to retire to Florida. I hate the heat. It does not bring out the best in me.
