This is shaping up to be the week of answered prayers in our house. And the week isn't over yet.
First off, the news many of you have been waiting for: it seems that Clachat has been fortunate enough to find a loving new home! She leaves us in one week to live with the parents of our neighbor; their old cat died a couple of months ago and finally they decided they'd rather adopt an older cat than a kitten, and Clachat was in the right place at the right time to be chosen. We could not be more happy; the couple in question have a small garden, so Clachat will have some outdoor space to keep her happy in the good weather. We'll send her with a cushion she likes to sleep on, so she'll have something familiar, and a few packets of her favorite food, but otherwise the très gentille dame, who came to meet the cat today, said they don't need anything else. I think Clachat (who will be renamed Cléa, it seems) will be in very good hands.
My older step-son got some good news this week after having an MRI on his knee, and although he still needs to consult again with the orthopedic guy, we are now more hopeful he will not require surgery to heal from his recent skiing accident. Evidently, the damage is not as severe as feared.
Also, Georges got some very welcome news at work yesterday, and while I won't go into details, all I will say is the timing couldn't be better, and I'm so proud of my husband and how hard he works.
Between tomorrow and the weekend, we will make a second visit to the apartment I liked so much last week, plus will see another apartment that, while not so perfectly located, is still in a good neighborhood, has more bedrooms and is a little bit cheaper than the first place. I am optimistic that one of these two apartments will end up being "the one" -- another prayer answered -- and we can get on with planning our big move, and all that goes with it. I'm always happier and more at ease when I know what's coming and when, in a situation like this, even when it requires a lot of planning and work; it's when there are too many unknowns that I start to get fidgety.
Now, all we need in the coming weeks is some good news about college decisions, for both my step-daughter and my niece in New Jersey. And some good news about the health of some other family members. That would make this week of bonnes nouvelles truly complete!
Last but not least, I wouldn't say "no" if the Universe decided to drop a sweet book deal in my lap right about now. [Wink-wink, nudge-nudge. Are you listening, Universe?]
And while I'm waiting on that, I will just say a big "Thank you". Because it's enough, and it's all good.
